ICL Boulby Boosts Skelton Bowling Team with Generous Donation

In an example of community support, ICL Boulby has donated £1,400 to the Skelton Bowling Team. This generous contribution will be used to purchase a battery-operated Evenspray Pro fertiliser sprayer, significantly enhancing the clubs ability to maintain the bowling green.

The bowling green, a well used hub for over 45 club members, has seen increased use and membership in recent times. With this rise in activity comes the need for more frequent and efficient maintenance. Currently, the team uses a heavy backpack sprayer, which poses a challenge, especially for the Greenkeepers—dedicated individuals who are in their 70s. The new portable unit on wheels will not only alleviate the physical burden on these Greenkeepers but also boost their productivity in maintaining the lush, green surface.

Graham Clark, club member, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Because of the ongoing support from Boulby with funding, fertiliser, and expert advice, we have one of the best playing surfaces in the area.” This high standard has led to the formation of a new ladies’ team at the Skelton Bowls Club, further enriching the local sporting community.

The connection between the Skelton Bowls Club and Boulby runs deep. Four retirees from the Boulby Mine are active members of the team, and the club frequently promotes ICL Boulby, acknowledging their numerous successful funding applications and, use of specialised fertiliser, and expert advice from ICL’s North-East Technical Area Sales Manager, Craig Lalley over the years.

The club would love to hear from prospective new members. Meet the members and see what the club has to offer by contacting Graham Clarke.
