Glen Takes on Second Cateran Yomp Challenge for Charity

In a remarkable demonstration of resilience and generosity, Glen Collins, our Quality Manager at ICL Boulby, has once again committed to the formidable Cateran Yomp challenge, marking his second participation in this strenuous but deeply meaningful event.

The Cateran Yomp, a demanding 54-mile trek across the dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands to be completed within 24 hours, is a true test of physical and mental endurance. By choosing to confront this gruelling challenge for the second time (8th – 9th June 2024), Glen exemplifies the spirit of determination and philanthropy that inspires our community.

Glen’s initial participation in 2023, as part of the Boulby Beasts Team, was not just a display of remarkable stamina but also a profound gesture of support for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), also known as The Soldiers’ Charity. This organisation plays a crucial role in aiding soldiers, veterans, and their families in times of need. Through the Cateran Yomp, Glen and his team contributed significantly to this noble cause, transforming a personal challenge into an opportunity to aid those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.

Reflecting on his decision to take on the Yomp once more, Glen shared, “Some friends saw the great videos that the Boulby Comms Team posted and wanted to give it a try. After my feet healed and I put the rose-tinted glasses on, I agreed as it was a great event. Plus, the charity is one that, along with the Royal British Legion, is quite dear to my family.” This heartfelt statement underscores not only Glen’s personal connection to the cause but also his commitment to making a difference through his actions.
