Apprentices Dig Deep at Boulby

Ten young people are now starting their working lives with East Cleveland’s largest employer as they as they start apprenticeships with ICL Boulby.

All students from TTE, a division of Middlesbrough College they are focusing on STEM subjects including fabrication, mechanical and electrical engineering, gaining experience at both the Boulby Mine and Teesdock terminal.

Their introduction to life at Boulby began with spending time at various departments, including Agronomy, Geology and the Dark Matter Laboratory and, of course one of the highlights was descending to experience what life is like 1200metres underground.
